Hi, I'm Carrie Merrell! I'm 33 years old and I live in Sunnyvale, California with my husband and three year old son, Luke.

I have been sewing and crafting my entire life.

I majored in graphic design in college and worked as an intern at Readymade magazine. I have published craft tutorials in Readymade and Beadwork magazines. I worked as a graphic designer doing mostly food and wine packaging throughout my 20s.

I started quilting shortly before getting pregnant with my son. Quilting is the perfect crafty medium for the bold, geometric design style I developed as a graphic designer.

I have a toddler at home so I don't get to quilt every day. On days I do quilt, I might only get to do 10 minutes. Sometimes I'll work for hours after his bedtime in poor lighting. I don't have a craft room so I use my dining room table or computer desk or sit on the couch. I love starting projects but I don't always finish them. That's ok. Sometimes I get frustrated with a project and it goes on time out for a month. Or a year. My interest in different techniques is always evolving. I'm not going to spend my time making something out of an old worn out t-shirt. I make mistakes. I love that a-ha feeling I get when I figure out how to work around them, or fix them, or not make them again in the future.

Those a-ha moments are what I'm focusing on turning into resources for you so that you don't have to figure it out the hard way yourself.

Thank you so much for being here.
